Description:
Day 1: Cusco - Perolniyoc - Rayan
Today, we will head toward the village of Socma, located at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level. From the center of the village, we will begin our adventure and walk to the Perolniyoc waterfall. It will take us an average of 1 hour to reach the base of the waterfall, where we will take a break to appreciate that beautiful place fully.
Afterward, we will hike up to the ruins of Raqaypata, situated at 3500 meters above sea level. The archaeological complex of Raqaypata is the perfect place to rest and enjoy a beautiful view over the Socma Valley.
The day concludes with one last effort to reach the community of Rayan. There, our campsite will be waiting for us to spend the night.
Day 2: Rayan - Paso Niyoc - Inti Punku - Cachicata
Today, we will ascend the Rayan Valley towards the Niyoc Pass, at an altitude of 4400 meters above sea level. The ascent will be challenging, but the view from the summit is worth it.
We will take a short break before embarking on a long descent of approximately 3 hours down to the Inca gate of “Inti Punku” and finally to our campsite in Cachicata.
Day 3: Cachicata - Ollantaytambo
The last day of the hike is quite short and downhill. We will cross the Cachicata quarry, the source of the stones used in the construction of Ollantaytambo.
We will explore this place and descend for 3 hours to the town of Ollantaytambo, where our adventure will come to an end. A driver will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
