In Karajía, we find a group of sarcophagi (coffins whose shape follows the contour of the human figure) representing the funerary tradition of the Chachapoyas.

They are unique due to their extraordinary height, reaching up to 2.50 meters, and meticulous craftsmanship. Discovered in the Karajía ravine in 1985 by the Peruvian archaeologist Federico Kauffmann Doig, their location in a hard-to-reach ravine kept them safe from looters.
